Residents may bring documents in any type of container, which will be returned after papers have been dumped. Note: Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed. Residents can bring a combination of up to six bags, containers or boxes per trip. to 1:00 p.m., or until the trucks are filled to capacity, at which time they leave and the event is over for the day. Additional Hillsborough dates are April 24th, August 14th, and August 28th. Shredding events are held rain or shine, from 9:00 a.m. “In total there will be 10 events on Saturdays, throughout the County beginning on March 27th in Hillsborough,” added Mayor Lipani. "Shred-it events, such as these, provide our residents with the occasion to safely and properly dispose of personal documents, while protecting against identity theft," stated Mayor Shawn Lipani. In collaboration with the Somerset County Consumer Protection Office and the County’s Records Management Office, documents will be commercially shredded safely, privately and properly by trained, licensed and bonded document-destruction specialists. The program is intended to offer residents a safe and easy way to dispose of bulk personal information. Operation Secure Shred began in 2007 and is offered throughout the county in various locations from March until November. ![]() The first event for the season will be held on Saturday, March 27th from 9am until 1pm, rain or shine, at the Somerset County Public Works Garage, located at 410 Roycefield Road in Hillsborough. Operation Secure Shred, sponsored by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, will begin hosting the 2021 document shredding events throughout the county.
